The German Post will end August, the stamp from the Internet. As the company announced in Bonn, a sample test run with 48 customers for the postage has been successfully completed by PC.
For the PC-Stamp customers need a standard computer, an inkjet or laser printer and Internet access. The cost is € 83.50 one-(163.31 dollars). From the seventh month in addition to the actual postage cost is an amount of € 2.30 per month (4.50 dollars) added. Therefore, customers receive updated software from the stamp program.
The post office expects brisk use of the new system. Previously had to register for the “Stampit” called franking system, 25,000 buyers.
The system was developed by GFT Technologies. The letter mail processing centers of the home-matrix printed bar codes. The electronic postage to be printed on Windows, Mac OS, Linux and Unix can.
The Post had already participated in the fall of 1999 the U.S. company E-Stamp, which is a pioneer in the development of the franking machine.
