Research In Motion (RIM) has presented its balance sheet (PDF) for the third quarter of fiscal 2011 (to 27 November). Sales of the Canadian mobile phone manufacturer climbed over the same period by 40 percent to 5.49 billion dollars. GAAP net income increased by 45 percent to 911 million, or $ 1.74 per share. RIM, which exceeded the expectations of analysts who had expected at 5.4 billion dollars in sales and $ 1.64 share profit.
According to the company accounted for 82 percent of sales in units and 15 percent on services. Total RIM sold between late August and late November, 14.2 million BlackBerrys. The number of new customers in this period amounted to 5.1 million. This brings the total number of subscribers to more than 55 million.
“We are pleased to report another quarter with growing sales, which have led to new records in revenue, profit and new customers,” said CEO Jim Balsillie.
