Yahoo would pay up to two billion dollars for the streaming portal Hulu, if it would bring with him for four or five years of exclusive rights for current TV series and old movies. The insider writes business, supposedly the source familiar with Yahoo’s plans. However, the internet portal insist on a guarantee before it submits such a takeover to the board for approval.

Apparently the new owners of Hulu as rights owners are only willing to guarantee any two year warranty – five years and access. This in turn, reported Bloomberg, which relies on “two people privy to the situation.” This would mean that series producers would have more time to offer their consequences on its own sites. The source close to Yahoo Business insiders said, however, without the five-year exclusive rights Hulu is “absolutely worthless”.

Hulu currently includes Walt Disney, News Corp., Comcast and the investor group Providence Equity Partners. These companies should have a crowd of prospective buyers have presented themselves. The media call it as Google, Amazon and Microsoft as potential applicants. It was “decided to sell,” Disney CEO Robert Iger has be announced this month actually. So there seems to be due to the conditions that the bidding war is still ongoing.

Hulu has now given the potential sale into the hands of investment banks Morgan Stanley and Guggenheim Partners. And Microsoft has apparently dropped out of the auction. It had informed Hulu, that it would no longer participate in the next round of betting, writes Bloomberg. Its source, however, did not rule out a re-entry principle.

Hulu does not leave a comment. Yahoo and Microsoft made ZDNet know that they generally do not comment on rumors and speculation.
