Was immediately reorganized become a bigger company – eliminated duplicate positions, fired some employees, set up new units, etc.
Now AMD has officially announced a new reorganization of the company, which, in theory, should allow her to successfully confront the main competitors in the market of integrated circuits.
So, from that moment, AMD is divided into four sections, each of which will deal exclusively with his direct responsibility. The most interesting for us is the department to develop new products, which is headed by Rick Bergman (Rick Bergman). Interestingly, the creation of central processors and graphics GPU will now engage in a staff department. Such a structure is, apparently, will enable closer collaboration between engineers, engaged in the development of both CPU and GPU. The importance of this is explained very simply – in the not too distant future the market will be released the first integrated circuits that combine the functions of both the CPU and graphics core, and to organize the most effective collaboration of these components. It is worth noting that the company goes out of Randy Allen (Randy Allen), who led the development of processor and system logic to them.
At the same time informed of the possible refusal of further use of the brand ATI, which under today’s market moving graphics solutions of different levels. Instead, ATI now plan to use the trademark AMD.
