“There are questions surfaced regarding a feature of MSN China, which has developed a third-party,” it said in a statement from the software vendor. Since the code base of the service is concerned, we have decided to temporarily discontinue Juku beta until the allegations were fully understood. P> p>
Microsoft had Juku introduced in November. It provides Chinese users with a micro-blogging feature, and online games. P>
“We are weighing our options now on,” it says in a blog entry on Plurk. “We have sought advice from colleagues and gather facts about the sequence of events and parties in order to understand why and how it all happened.” Plurk claims to be the leading micro-blogging service in Asia. P>
It is the second time within weeks that Microsoft has a product that has developed a third-party software providers for the taking because of allegations of plagiarism from the market. In October, Microsoft pulled back a tool that simplifies the installation of Windows 7 on a PC without an optical drive. “Windows 7 USB / DVD Download Tool” included code of open source software ImageMaster. Meanwhile, Microsoft has released a revised version, which is under the GPLv2. P>
