Oracle investigated in Europe 1700 new employees and plans to expand its business activities in the region considerably. As the Financial Times reports that the software giant is responding to, inter alia, to an increased demand for cloud technologies in Europe. The region accounts for about one-third of Oracle’s overall revenue.

Oracle recently announced to increase the number of sales specialists in the hardware department. Now it looks new staff for all divisions. Also with regard to the required qualifications, the range is wide: from graduates to experienced sales professional.

The Group uses to search for new employees as well as social networks, Twitter and Facebook. Oracle employs 22,000 people currently in the EMEA region – through the hiring of the workforce would grow by around eight percent. Worldwide, the company has over 108,000 employees. After a series of major acquisitions, it is now more on organic growth.

Other firms want to strengthen Europe as a location. IT Service Manager Logica recently announced 1000 new jobs in France. Also, the consulting firm Capgemini wants to create new jobs in the region.

But the positive trend does not apply to the entire industry: mid-July, the network equipment supplier Cisco told to lay off about 10,000 employees worldwide. At Nokia, there had been rumors in the spring on a comprehensive job cuts.
