Secure Computing launches this month, the new models of the Sidewinder Security Appliance series on the market. Among the eight appliances to include four that are specifically tailored to the needs of medium and small enterprises, branch offices and smaller sales offices. The Sidewinder G2 models 110 C, 210 C, 410 C and 510 C cost 1500-11900 dollars. The new models offer different performance options, the licenses contain no restrictions on the user count.

The Sidewinder G2 Security Appliance is intended for the market of Unified Threat Management (UTM) security appliances. IDC defines UTM appliances as a combination of hardware, software and network technologies that connect a variety of security technologies together, including a firewall, intrusion prevention system (IPS) and an integrated anti-virus filters.

The new models – the entry level version 110 C – UTM functionality. All filtering options can be executed simultaneously. The various “Application Defenses” technologies are already preinstalled on the appliance and are controlled through a single interface.

The Sidewinder G2 Security Appliance is offered in eight different versions. Prices range depending on the configuration 1500-70000 dollars.
