Microsoft executives Brad Chase had tried late last week at the screening of a third “proof” video from Microsoft. This showed employees of the software company, how easy it is to download a version of AOL designed for the Navigator. They called on the site, the download process started and stopped again – in order to assure the audience that the rest is so easy anyway.
The video shown yesterday by the Ministry is not broke – but relentlessly documented, that the trouble begins at this point only because the promised Navigator icon did not appear on the desktop. This is for the process is vital, because Chase had argued for a user could download the Netscape Navigator browser as easy as using the preinstalled Microsoft Internet Explorer browser. Because users must find the download in their system until after the program, the statement is refuted by Chase.
“Have you seen an icon?” Said chief prosecutor David Boies, the Microsoft manager rhetorically. After several evasive maneuvers Chase finally declared: “No, there is not one … but AOL users are trained to detect the download files.”
