Oracle has in the patent dispute with Google first mentioned the amount of damages, the demands it: 2.6 billion dollars. This goes out from a brief submitted to the court.
The amount is calculated from estimates of the damage expert Iain Cockburn, such as Oracle holds in the document. Cockburn is Professor of Finance and Economics and Boston University.
“Google says mistakenly, that subject Professor Cockburn’s calculations from 1.4 to $ 6.1 billion damages,” Oracle wrote. “In his view, is the damage insgesamgt at 2.6 billion dollars.” Google has not yet responded to a request from ZDNet.
In mid-June had first appeared information that Oracle’s alleged harm is in the billions. Oracle claimed that time, the search party had wanted to conceal the amount of the required sum.
Google denied the allegations in his answer. It argued that Oracle has it in for about Android devices generated advertising revenue. The lawsuit, however, things just about the software – and is free.
Oracle had filed in mid-August last year lawsuit against Google. Mainly it’s about that Google with Android allegedly “knowingly, directly and repeatedly Oracle’s intellectual property in Java” injured. Oracle took over Java in early 2010 together with Sun Microsystems.
Therefore violate both Android and the Java VM Dalvik contained therein and the accompanying SDK, Oracle against seven patents. The trial is provisionally at 31 October set.
