Google Maps has its mapping service expanded to include a feature called Earth View. It shows the famous Google Earth 3D views of mountains, canyons and buildings and landmarks in the browser.
“Anyone with Google Earth is not so familiar, ask yourself how different Earth View from satellite images that are currently available on Google Maps,” product manager Peter Birch wrote in a blog entry. “Earth First offers a true three-dimensional perspective view, over which one can see landscapes and buildings in all details or dive into an ocean.” The use of Google Earth view shows in a video.

(Image: Google) Earth view is based on the technology that drives even the desktop application Google Earth, so Birch continued. Developers are also the Google Earth API available to integrate Earth View in Web sites.
For use in 2008 is introduced Google Earth Plug-in. Users who have already installed the extension can Earthview use immediately. It supports Windows (2000) and Mac OS X 10.4 or later, and the Chrome browser (version 1.0), Internet Explorer 7 or later (32-bit) and Firefox 2.0. Windows users can download the plug-in use with Flock 1.0 or higher. Mac Firefox users will need at least version 3.0.
