The Gnome developers have released version 2.28 of their desktop environment for Unix and Linux. The update includes improvements, bug fixes and new features and enhanced translation. Added new example, the module “GNOME Bluetooth”, the Bluetooth device is managed. Also, tethering, so the use of a mobile phone as a modem is made possible by the new function.
One of the biggest improvements in GNOME 2.28 relates to the Internet browser “Epiphany”. This is used for the presentation of Web sites no longer the Gecko engine, but WebKit. However, an error arising from the change ensures that logins and passwords will no longer be stored in forms. The developers are aware of the problem and are working on a solution.
The applet at the time of acquisition has received an optimized index, and improved auto-completion. In addition, the export feature now supports Apple’s iCal calendar software, and XML and TSV.
