Dell and Red Hat have assembled an Open Source Middleware Application Appliance. The AMD Opteron-based architectural solution designed for companies in EMEA. Customers should be able to deploy the appliance in accordance with the “Simplify IT” approach Dell’s quick and easy self-developed or commercial Java and Web 2.0 applications.

The Open Source Middleware Application Appliance serves as an entry-level solution for small to large companies that want to use for the first time middleware. Even for developers, Java and web-based application providers to the package. According to the manufacturer is the first fully integrated J2EE hosting appliance on the market.

The hardware side of the appliance consists of the Dell PE2970. The rack server supports up to two dual-core or quad-core Opteron processors from AMD. Maximum 64 GB of memory is possible. The appliance is running the open source platform, Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
