Another addition in the fleet of “green” cars – Ford Focus Electric, demonstration which took place in the Las Vegas CES. The manufacturer strongly focused on the fact that the operational performance of electrical Focus exceed those of the Chevrolet Volt and Nissan Leaf.
Stated that fuel consumption will be less than the Chevy Volt, which shows the 2.5 l/100 km in electric mode. Full charge time of lithium-ion batteries from a 240-volt power supply will be from three to four hours – for comparison, Nissan Leaf it takes a half longer. Owners can also load Focus Electric 120-volt sources, but it will increase the full charging time to 20 hours.
To help future owners to achieve maximum efficiency, Ford has teamed with Microsoft – the latter would provide the customers machine network service Hohm, to track and plan for energy costs. In addition, the automaker has refined the system on board MyFord Touch. In Focus Electric, it displays useful information like distance to the nearest charging station, the distance run on the current charge, etc. At the end of each trip the statistics of efficiency, which is designed to help the driver to optimize the movement. There will also be available in mobile version of MyFord Touch, which allows to monitor vehicle status through a smartphone.
official launch of the Focus Electric is scheduled for this year. The exact date and price have not yet identified.
