In addition, Atos with Siemens completed the world’s largest IT outsourcing contracts: a contract worth a total of EUR 5.5 billion and a maturity of seven years. The agreement includes the operation of the entire IT infrastructure, applications and services. P> p>
“Today is a great day for our company. We propose a new chapter in our history and be one of the ten largest IT service providers worldwide,” said Thierry Breton, Chairman and CEO of Atos, at the shareholder meeting. “We now have the opportunity to act as a progress engine to write history with our customers and to revive the market with new ideas.” P>
Atos will pay for Siemens SIS 850 million €. In return, Siemens is involved for at least five years with a stake of 15 percent of Atos. P>
Through this transaction, an IT services company created by a pro-forma sales of around 8.7 billion euros and 78 500 employees in 42 countries. It is thus currently ranks second in Europe. The new company is to achieve in fiscal year 2011, a market-oriented revenue growth and operating margin of 6 percent. It is planned by 2013 revenue to increase to 9 to 10 billion euros and a margin of 7 to 8 percent. So IBM would go out of first place in Europe. P>
Regarding complement the regional list, the two companies well: while Atos Origin had been represented especially in Western and Southern Europe, Siemens could bring in its strong position in Central and Northern Europe in the partnership. The joint venture employs 62 000 engineers. 14 600 work in France, 11,600 in Germany, 9800 in Great Britain and Ireland, 9100 in the Benelux countries. India in 7900 are active in other Asian countries in 4300 and the 4500th U.S. Thus, the focus is clearly distributed differently than in the previously dominant U.S. market vendors IBM, HP and CSC.
