consider the chipset for example, the first board based on it, whose name is ASUS LN64-SLI Deluxe. NVIDIA nForce 680a SLI – two-chip chipset, but its design is not a typical example of a bunch of northern and southern bridges. In fact, the board has two complete single-chip chipset, which in theory should work individually. With this design, the board supports 20 ports USB (on ASUS LN64-SLI Deluxe sold only 10), 4 LAN controllers and 12 SATA II ports. “First” processor is connected to the chipset via 16x HT link, “second” – on the bus 16x ccHT link. For each chip has two 240-pin DDR2 memory slots.
The above presented scheme can be clearly seen that the board supports 4 physical ports PCI-Express x16, two of which have full 16 lanes, the remaining two – 8 lines.
ASUS LN64-SLI Deluxe should appear simultaneously with the FX-74 processors, which the current data will be launched in late November.
