Apple seems to have a jailbreak test iOS 4 and later installed, to see if someone has unlocked his iPhone around with greenpois0n. When a jailbreak is discovered, Apple blocked access to the latest version of its e-reader app iBooks, as reported by the blog Social Apples. P>

Affected users will receive an error message if they want to open an e-book: “There is a problem with the configuration of your iPhone with iTunes, please put them forth again and start new iBooks..” P>

Apple was first to provide any opinion. The comments on the site of social Apples, however, raise the question of whether Apple is legally entitled to restrict the functionality of an unlocked iPhone. P>
Jailbreaks have always been controversial. End of July 2010, however, the U.S. Copyright Office decided that an unlocked iPhone is to install any software legally. Apple had claimed that a jailbreak infringes the copyright. P>
It is also, according Copyright Office allows users to perform a so-called Unlock repealing the provider lock (SIM lock). The decision came as part of a normal review process every three years, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act at the request of the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF). P>
The decision of the U.S. Copyright law prevents Apple supervision but not taking any action against hackers and unlocked iPhones to be taken. Just yesterday, Apple has blocked access of two hackers to the App Store. Both suggest that the blockade is related to the discovery of their jailbreak for Apple products. P>
The decision of the Copyright Office has its limits: A jailbreak is therefore permissible only if he “fair uses” (“fair use”) is used. Apple iBook locks in case of its users but in content that they legally – have acquired – and fair. P>

Apparently, the problem occurs only with certain books that examine whether it is an original version of the firmware from Apple. In addition, affected only devices that have been unlocked with the software Greenpois0n. Unlocking iOS 4:21 with PwnageTool 4.2, or with Sn0wbreeze caused this error. For devices that have been unlocked with Greenpois0n, it will soon enter a solution that is available via the Cydia store. P>
