Alcatel launches the One Touch One Touch 501 and 701 in November, two new WAP phones on the market. A special feature of mobile phones: A mini-joystick, can control with the user in four directions through the menus. The mobile phones without contract cost 699 marks (Model 501) and 749 marks (for 701).

In conjunction with a mobile phone contract to the devices for 149 or 199 have to be Mark. Deliveries of the new phones in five Metalicfarben, the 701 is also equipped with a protective cover for the keyboard.

The One Touch 701 brings the scales at 88 grams, five grams of the One Touch 501 less. Both models have a lithium-polymer battery for 250 hours of standby time and five hours of talk time. Among the new features include voice dialing and a voice memo mode, which allows the user to record up to six messages every ten seconds in length.

The calendar can store up to 1200 events. In the telephone directory, up to 500 contact files are managed. Maximum 80 messages can be stored in the mobile phone. The device has a dynamic memory: Who can keep more SMS, thus storing less contacts and vice versa.

Games or an infrared interface the user is looking at new phones but in vain. From the first half of 2001 is a GPRS and a Bluetooth version of One Touch 701 coming on the market.
